Mientras que más de 2 mil millones de personas gozan de acceso a Internet en el mundo, uno de cada tres internautas no tiene acceso a una Internet libre y abierta a todos, debido a la censura de los gobiernos, al filtraje y a la vigilancia en línea. Cerca de 180 periodistas ciudadanos, blogueros y netciudadanos en el mundo se encuentran en prisión debido a sus actividades de información en línea.
Para apoyar sus esfuerzos y con ocasión del Día Mundial contra la Cibercensura, Reporteros sin Fronteras y Google entregan cada 12 de marzo el Premio al Netciudadano, reconocimiento con el que se busca sensibilizar al público en general sobre la necesidad de defender la libertad de expresión en línea. Desde 2008, con este premio se rinde homenaje a los periodistas, blogueros y netciudadanos que han contribuido a la defensa de la libertad de expresión en Internet.
Con el fin de incitar a los internautas a que se movilicen, en su edición 2013 el Premio al Netciudadano se somete por primera vez al voto del público.
Reporteros sin Fronteras nominó nueve “Netizens”. La organización seleccionó, de entre los actores de la información en línea, a individuos que se han distinguido por desarrollar proyectos, investigaciones o iniciativas que han permitido el avance de la libertad de información en línea y que pueden inspirar a otros netciudadanos en el mundo.
Del 27 de febrero al 5 de marzo los internautas podrán votar por la persona nominada que les parezca más representativa del combate por la libertad de información en línea, en la cadena Youtube de Reporteros sin Fronteras (http://www.youtube.com/netizen2013).
El jueves 7 de marzo se anunciará quién recibió más votos, el premiado será invitado a la ceremonia de entrega del reconocimiento, que se llevará a cabo el 12 de marzo en las oficinas de Google France, en París.
Los nominados para el Premio al Netciudadano 2013 son: Itsmania Pineda Platero (Honduras), Cheikh Fall (Senegal), Oumarou Mohamed Lamine (Malí), Suren Gazaryan (Rusia), Murat Tungishbayev (Kazajistán), Assen Yordanov (Bulgaria), Huynh Ngoc Chenh (Vietnam), Mosireen (Egipto), Shiva Nazar Ahari (Irán).

Two billion people worldwide now have Internet access but a third of them lack access to an Internet that is free and open to all because of government censorship, filtering and online surveillance. Around 180 citizen-journalists, bloggers and other netizens are currently in prison because of their online activity.
To support their efforts and to mark World Day Against Cyber-Censorship, Reporters Without Borders and Google award the Netizen Prize every 12 March with the aim of drawing the public’s attention to the need to defend online free expression.
Since 2008, this prize has been awarded to journalists, bloggers and other netizens who have made a distinguished contribution to the defence of freedom of expression on the Internet.
To stimulate online interest, the winner of the Netizen Prize will this year for the first time be elected by the Internet public, who are invited to cast their vote online.
Nine netizens have been nominated by Reporters Without Borders. We have chosen online news and information providers who have distinguished themselves through investigative reporting, projects or other initiatives which have helped advance online freedom of information and which are likely to inspire fellow netizens around the world.
From today until 5 March, Internet users can vote for the nominee they think best represents the fight for online freedom of information by going to the Reporters Without Borders YouTube channel (www.youtube.com/netizen2013).
The nominee who has received the most votes will be announced on 7 March. The winner will be invited to the award ceremony at Google France’s headquarters in Paris on 12 March.

Pour soutenir leurs efforts, et à l’occasion de la Journée mondiale contre la cyber-censure, Reporters sans frontières et Google remettent chaque 12 mars le prix du Net-citoyen afin de sensibiliser le grand public à la nécessité de défendre la liberté d'expression en ligne.
